Monday Morning Inspiration: Victorious Living

January 7, 2019 by Mary

Good Morning!

Our theme across the board for the month of January is Victory! We have victory in all things through Jesus Christ! Regardless of the week before you, the Father is here to guide, direct and protect you.

Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father. Gal. 1:4

By giving His life on the cross, God chose to use the earth to show His abundant grace. His grace is sufficient and His message is to a fallen world. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 3:23

The Lord delights in caring for His flock. His mercy is new each morning. He rejoices in delivering His people from the snares by which we find ourselves trapped. Did you know that the scriptures are an agent of transformation? That’s right! When we immerse ourselves in them, our Spirit and our faith change and grow. As we are transformed by the renewing of our minds, we no longer fall prey to our old ways. The things that were once stumbling blocks become victories.

Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. John 17:17 His word is truth and when we seek it, we will find it. The Bible is our guidebook in this life; it hold the infallible word of God. His truths can be found there and will come alive to us as we read, study and commit ourselves to faithfulness.

We live in a modern world, but the word of God is still relevant. We can still find victories in God’s promises, He will still fight for us: The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. Exodus 14:14 He still looks for His lost sheep, His grace still abounds, He still heals, restores and delivers. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1

God has so much love for us! His love has redeeming power to transform our woes into victories, our sorrows into joy, and our hopelessness into hopefulness. Rest in the peace of this knowing in the days ahead.

Self-Care Wednesday

January 1, 2019 by Mary

Self-Care/Soul Care Wednesday

Morning Reflection:

Sometimes when we visit a place where we have never been, we need to ask for directions before we start. The same is true for our self-care/soul-care journey. We begin with our starting place. Some days are better than others, but we know that wherever we travel–whatever the journey, God walks beside us, cheering us on. The journey to self-care/soul-care is a long and winding road and we need a compass. The Lord is our compass. Staying close to Him, we set our minds not on the road we left behind, but the one before us. This is victorious living.

Faith

What are ten words you would use to describe your self-care journey? Take a few minutes to write them down, being honest and including both the positive and the negative. Pay close attention to the negative thoughts you may have expressed about your self-care journey, as these are reflective of the care and keeping of the soul. Give God the negative thoughts and continue on your journey. Step after step, we are victorious. Wellness isn’t a sprint, but rather, a marathon.

Emotions

When we allow our emotions to lead us, it’s easy to get off track because each new day has emotional challenges of its own. Take some time at the end of your day to write down some moments during your day where you felt an emotional high (happiness, joy, fulfillment, oneness with Christ), and some moments where you felt low or disconnected from God. Take some time to jot down some of the words you would use to describe the high and the low moments.

Taking a closer look at where we are can be a difficult thing. It may seem like just another thing you don’t want to think about, so you put your wellness journey on the back burner for another day, week, month or year.

When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider this: God has made the one as well as the other. Ecclesiastes 7:14

There are no mistakes. Every experience in your life is meant to teach you. God doesn’t hold grudges, He holds HOPE. In Him, through Him and because of Him, we are victorious!

Lord, we give you thanks and praise for this day; for the good and the bad, the happy and the sad, the lows and the highs. We know that you have made each one. Please continue to walk with me, guide me and give me directions along this journey toward self-care/soul care and personal wellness. Amen.

Self-Care=Soul Care

December 18, 2018 by Mary

Did you know that Jesus was in the ministry of healing the whole person? Yes! His message was about the whole person-body, mind and spirit. A well-rounded plan for self-care is one that takes into account the gospel of Christ and the body, mind and spirit as a whole.

When we make a commitment to self-care, we must consider that it should bring the whole person into balance. We cannot be healed, made whole and healthy if we are out of balance. So, as we go along on this journey, it’s good to remember that balance comes with discipline. Discipline is a matter of relinquishing our control to Christ, asking for his daily intervention and seeking him to help us develop new habits and a new perspective.

From a holistic perspective, our faith, our nutritional habits, our work, family, friends, our movement/exercise, and medical health all contribute to the overall tapestry of our lives. When these things are in balance, we feel a greater sense of peace, joy, harmony and connection.

Starting a new journey is always challenging. Developing new habits is difficult, as we get used to the way things have always been and it is hard to change our mindset, but God walks along the path with us as we begin our journey toward wellness. Remember, Jesus was in the ministry of healing the whole person.

Start with something simple this week: Pray before your meals, snacks or grazing. As faith is an integral component to healing the whole person and developing new habits, take a moment to give thanks for the food that you are about to receive. Doing so helps us to acknowledge what we are putting into our bodies and how often we eat. Giving thanks helps us to not only be thankful for God’s blessings of good food, but helps us to account for the way we are caring for the temple of the Holy Spirit. God calls us into accountability through thanksgiving.

In these small and simple ways, we begin to care for the soul and the body, but we must begin to develop routines in order to see lasting change. So, we implement things one at a time. Baby steps. There is no quick fix it for a lack of self-care or lack of discipline. We must begin and be willing to work hard because we believe that doing so will help us to live a life that it fully consecrated to Christ.
