Child-Like Wonder/Day 46

February 15, 2014 by Mary

Day 46

God is the source of child-like wonder.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for filling me with laughter and joy. I thank you that I can laugh and that I have people with whom I can laugh. Thank you that even though I have grown, I still have a child-like sense of wonder. Please refresh me. Help me to feel free enough to be playful today. Take my heavy burdens and make them light. Lord, I release them to you today. Amen.
Affirmation: I embrace my child-like sense of wonder.
What does it mean to have a child-like sense of wonder?
What are some things you can do today to ignite your child-like sense of wonder?
Scripture Memorization:
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.Proverbs 17:22

When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it. Mark 10:14-15

Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:4

Having a child-like sense of wonder is as if you are seeing things through the eyes of a child—without doubt—without analyzing—just taking things for what they are—not questioning. God loves this kind of faith and humility.

We are on day 46 of our workbook, which discusses having a child-like sense of wonder. I created a picture from a picture of a card that my 84 year old neighbor gave me yesterday for Valentine’s Day. I have always thoroughly enjoyed her child-like sense of wonder about everything in her life. The way she sees things brings joy to my heart. I want to be like that, don’t you?… someone who brings joy into the hearts of others–because I radiate joy and wonder.

God says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28–shed your worries today and give yourself permission to see things from a child-like perspective. Create moments. Celebrate milestones. Acknowledge funny things in your life. Laugh out loud. Be humble.

Extend Grace/Day 44

February 13, 2014 by Mary

Day 44

Extend Grace

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you that I am growing and learning the true meaning of Grace. I realize that my words have powerful influence. My goal this week is to speak to others and myself with kind and loving words. Thank you for showing me that happiness is found when I begin to love others and myself through your eyes, extending Grace.
Affirmation: I am growing in Grace.

What is your personal definition of Grace?

Thank God for his Grace.

“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.” 2 Peter 3:18

God’s Perfect Creation/Day 43

February 12, 2014 by Mary

Day 43
You are God’s perfect creation.
Prayer:  Dear Lord, please help me be everything that you created me to be. I want to live in a world of possibilities. I want to forgive myself for past mistakes and failures. I recognize that you have already forgiven me. I know that you want the best for my life. Thank you for beginning the process of healing in my life today and for showing me that I am perfect just as I am.
Affirmation: I am God’s perfect creation.

Draw a picture of yourself—as God’s perfect creation…

Study Genesis 1:1-31
Over and over again, this passage tells us how God loved his creation…

Sin and failure, and everything we don’t like about ourselves and others began with Adam and Eve. God did not create imperfect beings… sin caused imperfection.

Even before you were born–God knew your future. He knew what hurts you would endure, your weaknesses. But he loves you so much that he already had a plan in place for your healing.
