Lord, whatever comes in this life is nothing compared to the beauty and peace you have for me in heaven. While I am saddened over loss in my life, I know that you are the great Physician, the Healer of my heart, Perfecter of my faith and Redeemer of all that I have lost. I will trust in you and find my comfort in you, Lord, for you are good and faithful. I know that you will never leave me or forsake me. Amen.
Praise God that He is the great Physician and is able to redeem me from sickness, loss and death.
but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31
Those of us who are in the faith shall have our strength renewed when we go through loss. The passage applies to the believer in that it is implied that our strength shall be “renewed”, meaning that we have already experienced spiritual strength.
So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18
Don’t lose heart, even though it seems that the things around you may be falling apart. In Christ we are renewed, our souls are strengthened and our spirit grows roots. It is through the unseen things that we learn how deeply we depend upon God and trust in His promises. The premise of our faith is that there is eternal glory beyond what we can see. Let us be reminded of this promise as we suffer from glory to glory.
God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
Psalms 46:1
We are encouraged to trust in the Lord and His refuge for us in the worst of times. His Divine providence gives us strength when we are in need.
Have there been times in your life when you have experienced loss? If so, how did your faith bring you victory through grief?
Think about those experiences and give thanks to God for helping you withstand loss and find victory in the midst of it.
