Monday
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
Prayer: Dear Lord, please give me courage to get through this day today and whatever it may bring. I will concentrate on casting my cares upon you, as I know you will uphold me no matter what the situation. You tell me not to be dismayed and I take comfort in knowing that you are my strength. Thank you for the great future you have planned for me. I will rest knowing that you are the author of my future. Amen.
Tuesday
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)
Prayer: Lord, thank you for the peace, which you have given me. I will confess peace over my life today—a peace, which transcends all understanding; that I may be in the midst of turmoil and those around me, will be in wonder at my lack of anxiousness. Thank you God that you will guard my heart and mind from anxiousness and that you seek only the best for my life. Amen.
Wednesday
“Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?” (Luke 12:25-26)
Prayer: Lord, I pray that you will help me to cast my burdens upon you rather than try to solve them myself. I understand that worry is an attempt to control things for which I have no control. Rather, I will concentrate on praying for and seeking your counsel for my life. Help me draw close enough to you that I give you everything; that I communicate with you openly about my fears, cares, and burdens. Amen.
Thursday
“Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.” (Psalm 55:22)
Prayer: Thank you Lord for carrying me when I cannot walk on my own. Thank you that you are all that I need and with you, I have more than enough. Thank you for helping me sustain through the difficulties of life. Thank you that you give me blessing after blessing and that in you I am rich and free. Amen.
Friday
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food and the body more than clothes.” (Luke 12:22-23)
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you that you have met all my needs. Thank you that I have someone with whom I can rely. Help me to recognize the important things in this day. Help me to put away the things of the world that plague me, knowing that life is so much more than material things. Thank you that I do not have to worry about my life, what I will eat, about my body, or what I will wear—that you have it all covered! I am free from the bondage of worry today! Amen.
Saturday
“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.” (Matthew 6:28-29)
Prayer: Lord, today I confess freedom from worry over my life. I will strive to have a deeper relationship with you so that during momentary relapses of worry, I have a friend in whom I can trust with my deepest fears; a friend who cares about all creatures great and small, a friend who has the cure for all of my ailments, and a friend in whom I may find transcendent peace. Invade my heart and mind today Lord. Amen.
Sunday
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”(Matthew 6:34)
Prayer: Lord, help me be present in the moment TODAY—putting tomorrow off until tomorrow! I will rest in your perfect peace today, knowing that whatever comes…you and I can handle it together. Fill me with joy today Lord. In that joy, may I recognize the many blessings in my life. I want to see myself through your eyes today Lord. Please help me do that! Amen.
We all go through times of fear and uncertainty in our lives, but the Lord tells us not to be dismayed, but rather, give everything to him, casting our cares through prayer and petition. Petition means talking with God about the needs in our lives, asking for his help. It is so amazing that we have a God who listens and cares about our needs!
This week think about how much time you spend worrying. In Luke 12:25-26, it says, “Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?”…Worry never solves a problem; it can actually create problems for us, such as lack of peace of mind, emotional difficulties, and ill health. The bible tells us in Matthew 6:34, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Sometimes we spend time worrying about the problems we foresee for tomorrow and things we expect to happen.
Take some time this week to write out some of the burdens on your heart. When you begin to worry about these burdens again, bring out your list and pray over it. Ask God to reveal to you what he would have you to do to solve each of these issues in your life. Take notes when things come to mind. Ask God for his perfect peace and favor. Ask God to help you let go and give him control.
